I blogged about my parents visit on Monday and while at dinner, Samara and her Papaw were engrossed in conversation…
See…Papaw does no wrong and we do everything to please Papaw…
(she didn’t clean her room because I asked, she did it so as to not dissappoint her Papaw…)
When the bill came, my Dad pulled out his debit card and Mom said, “You have to take it up there, John. They don’t come and take it for you.”
He looked at her as if to say, “Yes they will…” but said nothing.
Samara piped in and said, “I’ll take it up, Papaw.”
He looked at her with those eyes that every grandfather has for their only granddaughter and jokingly said, “Yes, Sam… just go up there and sign my name.”
“Papaw?” She was ready to do what he asked. She was serious about her mission. “Do I just write P-A-P-A-W?”
He looked at her and said, “That’s going to carry me all the way to Pennsylvania tonight…”
…and I know that he thought about it all the way there…
Until next time…

That’s too funny! At least she was going to “forge” something with his knowledge – one of the guys here at work (a single father) has a son in the fourth grade, and they have a “planner” with their assignments that the dad is supposed to sign each week, or night, or something. Well, he discovered last week that somebody has been signing the dad’s name – and it isn’t the dad!
LOL! That’s great. I’m giggling just thinking about the expression on your daughter’s face (and papaw’s)as she was seriously asking the question of how to sign it….LOL! I bet papaw won’t ever forget that dinner!
Aww, yes…our Papa could do no wrong as well…I think it’s in their contract:-)
My daughter had smashed a toy to smithereens, but had total confidence “Papa could fix it…he can fix anything.”….I miss him…
Awwwwww, that just melts me!!! So precious! They’re only going to be this little for a short time. *sniff sniff*
That one belongs in Reader’s Digest – SERIOUSLY – you should send it in!
How beautiful! I find that when we look at their hearts, we see the most incredible reflection of ourselves and our maker in our children…and all the other things just melt into the person they’re becoming…I swear it’s a glimpse of greatness.
They sound amazing and precious…
Always watch them sleep and you will never, ever forget…
