Quilting for the 7 year old…

April 12th, 2007

Mom’s big plan this week was to make a quilt with Samara so that I could work in peace and quiet. My father kept Matthew busy outside.

Because Mom’s sewing room is down the hall, I could hear bits and pieces of their conversation and I would peek in on them from time to time…

I captured a few shots… I’m blessed with a mother that has the patience to help my 7 year old with quilting… I’m blessed to have a 7 year old who is interested in this (I surely wasn’t and couldn’t use a sewing machine if you paid me…)

They are going to enter it into a quilt show this summer. And yes, my daughter has done the majority of the work. (Even picking out the fabric… it’s not what Mom and I would’ve picked… but it was her quilt….)

I’ll let you know this summer if it brings home a prize… :)

If you look on the “design wall” you can see the top half of the quilt and the fabrics that she’s picked out

And below are the men burning things and the slingshot that Matthew made out of a tree branch and the rubber band on the inside of a golf ball…

Until next time…

Looks like the kids (and grandparents….lol) are having a great time! I couldn’t use a sewing machine either if you paid me - I’ve never been interested in stuff like that!

I’ve always wanted to know how to sew, and I never learned. It’s great that Grandma is doing so well with her.

P.S. how did he get ths golf ball open?

Wow - I wish I had someone to teach me how to quilt!

(Or sew. Or play the piano. Or many other things.)

I’m thinking Samara has already won her prize…time with Grandma she’ll never forget, and a Momma who’s proud of what she’s done:-)
