it’s too late now, but I always do none-rich sides, like steamed veggies or green salad with something heavy like lasagna. Hope all went well!

Heather, I lost your email…can you contact me?

Garlic bread along with a veggie & of course a dessert (brownies or something).

4

Big thumbs up for garlic bread and salad (even something simple — like they can make it themselves).

Now is this like next Tuesday? And why such a weird day?

5

I’m late to the party but I say ceaser salad and garlic bread!!!

Definitely garlic bread. Salads are easy and a good side… get one of those ones in a bag, and it’s extra easy. Or steamed veggies. You can get those in a bag too, and just microwave them. I never serve lasagna with an over-fancy side. The lasagna is plenty fancy itself. And I agree with Tishia, dessert is a good idea. :)

Whenever I make lasagne for supper, I usually make a salad to go along with it, some garlic bread, and I make a dessert… just depends on what I have one hand… Easy Banana Pudding, a quick and easy cobbler, Easy Strawberry Pie, or one of countless others I know will go quick so I don’t get tempted with leftover pieces of dessert to make me eat them.

(just let me know if you want any recipes and I’ll post them on my blog).

Garlic bread (buy the frozen texas toast.. it’s good), caeser salad (you can buy those salad kits…), and brownies!!

Italian always goes well with French Bread and salad…always!!

Lasagne is a great dish for company. You can prepare it in advance and there is no last-minute prep. Just get some Italian bread at the grocery store and slather it with butter and garlic salt and heat it up. And then a salad, and you’re done!

Love the store-bought bread idea above. It will seem like home made! The key isn’t what you serve but HOW you serve it. Set the lasagna dish in a nice basket on the table. Scoop butter into a cute dish rather than slapping down the tub. Pour salad dressing in fancy little sugar bowls to spoon out rather than just pouring it from the jar. Serve your soft drinks/water in goblets rather than every day glasses and leave a pitcher of cold water on the table with some lemon wedges next to it. Fancy it up and they won’t even remember the meal itself!

Hillbilly Housewife has a great garlic stick recipe that I’ve made quite often. It doesn’t take much time to make them:

I have to agree with a lot of the others. Salad and garlic bread are great sides for lasagna. BUT, here’s an extra little idea you might find nifty. For the bread, you could always try warming up a nicely sliced up loaf of French bread and serving it with (here’s the kicker…) roasted garlic. Extremely easy, but a nice touch, especially if your guests are garlic fans. Take one elephant garlic (or a really good sized normal garlic bulb), slice the top off so the cloves are exposed, douse with a little olive oil, sprinkle over a little basil, wrap it in aluminum foil and put it in the oven for about an hour while you’re lasagna’s baking. The cloves get so soft, they spread on bread like butter. The only person I’ve ever served this to that didn’t like it was NOT a garlic lover. Hope that helps!

I always serve garlic bread and salad with lasagna. Lasagna is rich enough as it is, but when company comes, I also serve cheesecake. :)
