So that pretty much sums up my weekend… well, you’d need to add cleaning in there… because for the first time in I can’t tell you how long, you can see my daughter’s floor AND she worked…
Without complaint… of course, I paid her well… but it got done.
Basically, I gave them each 20 $1 bills and told them I would take bills away if they gave me any grief or didn’t work… and that child worked non-stop. She wanted all of that money.
And I was a little leary as I knew they would both be tired. It was a busy weekend….
Friday night was Homecoming… of course I didn’t go to that highschool.. it’s only been around for 5 years, however, it’s the school that my children will feed into and I like to pump them up for when they will be playing football and cheering on that field, so we get to as many games as we can. And it was homecoming, so I knew Samara would love to see the crowning of the King and Queen… and we took some of the youth from church as well… fun times, I tell ya… trying to keep track and not be too motherly to a group of hormone raging teenagers…
But the kids donned their golden shoes and Samara painted her face and off we went….
We got crushed… and we left at halftime… after the coronation… because we had our own football game at 8 am the next morning… ugh… who plans these things?
Now the teens spent the night at the church… we were making Apple Butter this weekend… and since we couldn’t help, Samara and I stopped by after we dropped Matthew off… (he has practice for an hour prior to his game)…
It was COLD…
She found a way to keep warm…
And then it was time for our last regular season game…
And the playoffs start tomorrow… we have a good chance of making it to the Super Bowl… our first two rounds, we play teams that we’ve already beaten… well, there are only two teams that we haven’t beaten… so I’m not overly concerned until we get to round 3… but I’m excited… oh that and the Super Bowl is on the big field… the high school field… and how cool is that?
After the game, we came home and cleaned…and then the kids spent the night at the neighbors and my buddy came over to watch movies while her son was at the Homecoming Dance.. I had to keep her awake so that she could go and pick him up at midnight and I was oh so tickled when she called on her way to dropping him off… he wanted to swing by and show me how spiffy he looked… and he did…
Between all my friends, I’m experiencing all these things… so that by the time my kids get to that age, I’ll have already been through it…
Oh and one more really cool thing.. after the great Halloween cookie debacle this week (which I forgot to tell you about — and I’ll sum it up with a few pictures…)
Yeah, I totally forgot that I put them in the oven… let this be a lesson that you shouldn’t cook while working…as I was putting out a work fire, I created my own in the kitchen. She still decorated them though.. but we tossed them…
So, anyway… I was a little discouraged about baking again, but my BFF Becki gave me a recipe for Tapioca pudding in the crockpot… so I made it on Friday… and chicken for dinner and both were phenominal…
I was so tickled…
So, that’s my weekend wrap up…
And at some point, I need to share the photos with you from the Slumber Party that I went to last week with some of the teens from church… they totally got me…
Until next time…
