We just got home from the game… game 2 of the playoffs.
It’s one of those things where it’s serious business… if you win, you’re one step closer to the Super Bowl and if you lose, your season is over.
Today, we played a team that we had beaten before, but they were having an off day. This wasn’t, by any stretch of the means, a slam dunk.
And we were neck and neck the entire game… we managed to keep our lead of one up until the beginning of the 4th quarter when we jumped ahead to 20-12.
But it still wasn’t over. They still had 4 minutes to score… and they did… with a minute left in the game. Which brought it to 20-18…
Now, Little League is a bit different than college ball… if you run it in, you get one point and if you kick it, you get 2. They had the chance to tie this game.
But they didn’t… and when the final whistles blew, the Titans were victorious once again.
As we were shaking hands with the other team, I saw some of their boys crying. I knew that it had to be hard. And I was torn. I felt for these boys and for their coaches. Their shot was over.
So now, there is one game… one team that stands between the Titans and the Super Bowl. Next week we’ll battle one of two teams… either one that we beat, but not by much or one that we’ve lost to. It’s still up in the air.
And I’m stressed over it but at the same time, having a great time. There’s part of me that is ready for it to be over, yet, the other part of me wants these boys to play as long as they can play.
But until then, we’ll practice, we’ll prepare, and we’ll be ready next Saturday… as we travel the road to the Super Bowl.
Until next time…
