It’s making things in size XL so larger frame women think that they can wear something that the size 2 models look fabulous in, when in fact, they look like large jars of Pepto.
Know how I figured it out?
I bought a pink sweater from them. Along with a boatload of other stuff. The grand total came to $129 but know how much I paid? $20. I was excited. The items all arrived and I placed them under the desk. I planned to wrap them up and give them to myself for Christmas. (When you still have a little on that believes, they don’t understand why Santa leaves something for everyone except Mom, so I have to play along.)
But then, I got a phone call from DCRMom who had a chance to get away from her family for a few and I? Had nothing to wear.
I really don’t think that it would’ve been a big deal, except she’s the queen of fashion in my book. And I listen to what she says and I couldn’t possibly show up in my favorite Old Navy jeans that were missing the knees and my NBC sweatshirt. What I really wanted to wear was in the wash. So, I pulled out that new sweater from Vicki’s…
In my mind, I looked fabulous. Then I put it on and I looked okay. At least the reflection on the mirror looked okay. So I loaded up the kids and hit the coffee shop around the corner to meet with DCRMom.
Wanna know something cool about her? Well, there’s lots cool about her… but the coolest is that she used to live here but now lives in Philly. I used to live in Philly but now I live here. Like two ships passing in the night….
That’s how we met actually… several months ago when she sent me a little message that said she grew up here.
And when I heard that she was coming home for T-day, I asked her if she’d like to grab coffee.
And she said yes. She apologized for being non-committal about when we could meet and I assured her that it was okay. I have no life and had no plans.
But getting ready to meet her? Oh my goodness!
I’ve gotten to know her through her blog over the past 7 months… and I know how fashionable she is…so in my mind, I’m running through the check list…
- handbag matches the ensemble – check
- no visable panty lines — check
- no tee-shirt with boots — check
Yes, I thought of these things… I learn from the best!
But when I got there, she was as nice as I knew she would be. And you should really ask her to see her new haircut… even though she says that she won’t because people are probably sick of hearing about her hair. I think it’s the best “do” yet!
And of course I checked out her shoes… because she’s got the cutest shoes that she’s always showing off.
But we had a great conversation. The southern is almost all gone…she still says y’all, but there’s no twang. And I say almost because she’s still the polite southern gal.
And when it was time for us to head back home, she asked the kiddos to snap a picture. (I’m jealous of her camera by the way. Here she was with a kick butt camera and I’m explaining how we lost our zoom button in Williamsburg and how the battery door is taped shut.)
Remind me to continue pushing Samara towards being a nurse and not photography…
So here were are, the graceful DCRMom with some pepto and me…
Pop on over and say hi…
And DCRMom, when you’re back in town, let me know… we’ll grab a cup of coffee again…
Until next time…
Heather
I am thankful for bloggy friends that I get to meet in real life; for the ability to get to know them and see them outside of the box that I’ve come to know them. I’m thankful for the fashion tips that I get from others and the deals I get on the internet. I am not thankful that I look like a jar of pepto… I’d like to shoot the person that said I looked good in pink!
