Good post Heather…not sure where I came across your blog, but it certainly gives me a good chuckle every day. Having some similarities in our lives, I like to see another mother’s take on everything; your humour is refreshing. Blogging is VERY new to me, and I hope it to be a cathartic experience; allowing me to work through troubling times…I hope;) I thought the obituary was depressingly hilarious, what an awful way to be remembered; but at the same time very well written. Take care, and have a great camping weekend with your kids…love them lots!

Wow! What a powerful post.

I think that just the fact that you are concerned about how you’ll be remembered is proof that you’re a person that will leave an amazing impact on the lives of all you’ve come in contact with. The blogosphere not excluded.

By the way, you may have just made enough guesses to get it right. You’ll find out for sure tomorrow.

I saw that obit on another blog the day it came out. It is sorrowful that the family is so hurt to publicly announce it. Reminds me of “Mommy Dearest.” I thought about what will be written about me the other day when a hometown teacher passed way. She was 99 years old. The paper covered her story–all the half page above the fold on the front and the top half of page 3. She is remember for rising above poverty, family and making an impact in her community. I thought about the legacy I’m leaving and wondered if I’m leaving one. Again–my thoughts have been stirred in this area.

BTW–I was attracted to the blog by the title I saw on someone’s side bar. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Wow, now I sit here and wonder what my children will remember of me?? I know I’m not the greatest mom in the world, but I do try my best to do what’s right (and fail frequently too). Thanks for posting this…I think I’m going to make more of a conscious effort to leave a legacy that I can be proud of.

You’ve summed up my thoughts on death and remembrance to a tee. I’ve always thought how small the funeral gathering would be as we have a fairly small family at least I think we do.
I feel my purpose here on earth has a lot to do with my boys.
This was an excellent post. I know for sure I don’t want to be that mother in the obit. Very sad!

What the heck did that woman do to her kids?
I think you will be remembered for many, many good things. And some rather strange ones too. (Never brushing your hair?)
Not only by your family, but here too. Remember Google is forever.
