Listen….
Do you hear it?
Know what that sound is?
Silence.
Know why?
It’s a SCHOOL NIGHT!!!!
And they are all in bed….giving me two seconds to breathe. And while I should be doing 10,000 other things, like, oh… I don’t know? Laundry, maybe so my husband doesn’t have to go to his big meeting tomorrow naked….
But I’m blogging.
That’s more fun.
The summer has flown by and I felt like I hadn’t really gotten to spend time with my family… I mean the WHOLE family, short of vacation… so when I learned about the Back To School Bash.. I brought it up to the hubs and the kids. It was a two hour drive but it was free and on the agenda was KJ-52 (I heard my son talk about them before), Jamie Grace (Thing 3 is her biggest fan), and Sidewalk Prophets (and I’ve heard of them and can identify a few songs.)
The only drawback? While the concert was free, you had to get a ticket… and there were only 3,000. Ticket distribution began at 3pm… doors open at 5pm and the concert at 6pm.
My biggest fear was that we would drive 2 hours and there would be no more tickets. So, plan B was to drive two hours to Lynchburg and see Newsong.
“Either way, we’re going to a concert,” I told the kids.
I packed a picnic lunch and we boogied from church and headed up the road.
This is what girls do in the back of the van when they have your iPad (and when technology works and all the pictures sync to your computer like it says it’s supposed to. I found these while attempting to upload the rest of the pictures.)

Those are my girls!
It was cold and rainy. I didn’t want to go. I feared the worst of the day and I couldn’t have been more wrong.
We stopped and had out picnic (in the rain, under the shelter of the van door).
We got there right at three and got in line and had tickets by 3:15pm.
And then we went exploring while listening to live entertainment on the lawn.
There were churches with hotdogs, caramel corn, sno-cones, cotton candy and more… and it was all free.
We finally found a place to call home for an hour or so and just enjoyed the afternoon (it had stopped raining!) And we just had fun!

And then somehow they all ended up front row. And the Mountain Dew that Thing 4 is holding? That actually came from George with KJ-52. She chose to get everyone to sign that.
Afterwards, there were autographs and pictures. And that’s when Jamie Grace told Thing 2 that she LOVED her hair and to never change it.
Might have gone down as the most memorable night of her life.
Home at midnight and a sleepy hubs and I at work today… but well worth it.
Because family time… even though they tell you they hate it?
Is so stinkin’ important.
These are the things I’ll remember when they are all grown up and gone.
Until next time…

You are such a great mom! these kids will remember those times forever! and to be told that Thing 2′s hair is cute by someone in a band is awesome! She does look really cute….as do all the other things. oh wait, boys aren’t cute, they are handsome!! Regardless you have a great family!!
