I’m Raising Geeks

Thing 2 is convinced that she’s going to buy my iPhone 4s when I upgrade my phone.  I keep trying to tell her it will cost her REAL money and not mnm’s or skittles.

The hubs has now decided his crackberry is no longer working and he would like my 4s when I use HIS upgrade to get a new phone.

And Thing 1?

Totally came up the stairs this morning and the first thing he said to me was, “Mom! iOS 6 is released today!”

Just as giddy, I responded, “I know!”

And when Thing 2 started in again last night about an immediate acquisition of my iPhone (with a different case of course) I told her that it wouldn’t be in 12 days when the Hubs has an upgrade — for 2 reasons… the wait time on the iPhone is 2-3 weeks AND…

I am waiting for Santa to get this for me for Christmas.

“But I don’t want to wait for Christmas!” she exclaimed… and it was full of the drama that thirteen year old girls have.

I, again, reminded her that she didn’t have any money anyway… so it didn’t matter.

Her friends have iPhones and she thinks that she should be handed one as well.

Reality check.

No thirteen year old NEEDS an iPhone.  No fifteen year old NEEDS one either, however, when you earn your money, I don’t feel that I can tell you what you can and can’t spend your money on (within reason).  So Thing 1 has an iPhone.

He was paid to build a sidewalk.  He bought an iPod Touch and when the iPhones came to Sprint, he sold his Touch and bought a phone.  With insurance.

But now I’m in a quandry.  Hubs is onboard with an upgrade.  I’m onboard with an upgrade.  Thing 2 is onboard with an upgrade (even though she has NO money.)

And now I have to wait for Christmas!

I hate when I shoot myself in the foot!

Until next time…
