Saying Goodbye to the Best Dog. Ever.

In July, I introduced to you Rhoda, the best dog. Ever.

It was then that I shared with you about her cancer and how we were just going to love on her until the bad days outweighed the good.

Well….Today is that day.

We are sad but as I told the kids…she’s up sniffing butts in heaven.

That’s what I told them.

Because I wanted them to laugh and sniffing butts did the trick.

I don’t like it when people cry.

I don’t know what to do when people cry.

So I just try and make them laugh.

Goodbye Rhoda.  You’ll always be the best dog. Ever.

And you’ll always be loved.

the best dog. Ever.

  1. Thinking of you. Love what you said to the kids. I still miss Poncho everyday. Rhoda reminds me on Poncho. This summer Celia’s little 5 year old niece came to visit from Venezuela for the first time. We told her we were sorry she didn’t get to meet Poncho in real life (she’d met him over Skype). She said, “it is okay, he is still here in all your memories and the stories you are telling me.” She was so right. Mouth of babes.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear about your dog – but I am so much like you and hate seeing people cry…especially my kids! I’m sure he is up sniffing butts in heaven, and you will all have your wonderful memories with him down here.

  3. So sorry to hear about the loss of your pup. It’s amazing how animals become members of our family. It’s hard to let them go. I’m sure you will have great memories of her.

  4. I have come to the conclusion that our own sweet girl knows her friend has crossed over the rainbow bridge…she hasn’t eaten today, even after a bit of chicken drippings was drizzled on it. When I asked her if she knew, she looked up at me, picked her head up, gave a big sigh and put her head back down. Coincidence? I think not. We love you Rhoda, see you there.

  5. Maybe she will meet Frankie…He did not like to have his butt sniffed, but you know…friendships can blossom over differences.
