Do you hear that?

August 20th, 2007

Twas the night before school starts
And all through the house
Not a child was stirring
Except that darned mouse…

The kidlets were nestled
All snug in their beds
With visions of school busses
Swimming in their heads…

And I’m on the couch
Just me and the dog
With my laptop settled in
To spend the night with my blog

ssshhhh….

Can you hear it?

Hear what, Heather… I know you’re asking…

NOTHING…

it’s QUIET…. :)

I started that little poem… and then i realized that I wanted to just enjoy the silence… and enjoy the me time that has returned…

how excited was i when I had to say “no you can’t go play… it’s a SCHOOL NIGHT!!!!”

oh life is good….

until next time..

Going Home…

August 17th, 2007

I want to play that song here by Daughtry but I won’t…

In all reality, I’m too lazy to go and get it and put it on here…

But in about 30 minutes, I’ll head to the airport…

Despite the heat, the headcold, and the difficulties getting here… it was a really good trip…

I always enjoy my time here…. I really do.. for one.. the food is phenominal… and the company is great too..

One of the more enjoyable things this week was the presence of one of the trainers…

I’ve got to tell ya gals… he was quite the hottie and the girls here drooled over him…

I’d post a picture, but I would hate for one of you to comment and go… “that’s my neighbor”… but I don’t think any of you live in Idaho… that and I respect his privacy..

but yes, I have a picture because on of the gals snapped one… oh yes, he’s been the talk… and I had dinner with him and my managers last night… so of course, they all envy me… :)

But he stays for another 2 weeks and I go back to my scenery of the mountains and woods outside my windows and of my two cute little kids.. and school buses… did I mention how I love to see the big yellow buses running up and down the streets?

Oh yes I do….

So I’m off like a cheap prom dress.. to the airport I go to find my way home…

I can’t wait!

Until next time…

Heather

PS. Since when did it become acceptable to wear your pajamas in the airport to fly? It’s all I see in the younger kids at the airport.. and when I say younger, I don’t mean 5… I mean like 17…. just curious!

Because Nice Matters….

August 14th, 2007

I am often reminded of a quote that was on the card from the Missions Team they gave me…

“When you do good things for others… you do good things for God.”

And… the old adage… what goes around comes around.

Yesterday, I arrived in Atlanta for a 1.5 hour layover… but things changed mid-flight and it became a 3 hour layover…

No biggie… I’ll check email and chat for a bit…

When I sit down at the Relax and Recharge station I overheard a man frantic to find someone at home with a computer and internet access. He needs a rental car in Tulsa… see, the airline could only get him as far as Tulsa… but he needs to be in Oklahoma City…

When I booted up, I had internet.

I was rude and interrupted his phone conversation… I offered him my laptop to make his arrangements and he hung up on who ever he was talking to.

I guess he didn’t believe me when I said that he could use my computer… but I assured him that it was okay.

After making his reservations in Tulsa, the lady sitting next to me and I both wished him good luck.. I added.. “This happened for a reason.. I can’t tell you why.. and you may never know why.. but there’s a reason this is all happening…”

Reluctantly, he replied with “I know” thanked me and was on his merry way.

I did a good deed for someone.

I did one on the way to Ohio last weekend too.. I paid the toll for the person behind me. I told the toll woman that I didn’t know the person.. just to tell them that it was my random act of kindness for the day.

I don’t do these things for recognition or for praise… I do them because they genuinely make me happy. They really do. The cost for both of these acts? $1.25 and a little time. I can spare that.

But what happens when you do these things?

You’re blessed.

Shortly after the frustrated passenger left I checked my email again and found that I had been bestowed an award from Deena….

Nice AwardHere are the details of this award….

“This award is for those bloggers who are nice people; good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration. Also for those who are a positive influence on our blogging world. Once you’ve been awarded please pass it on to others who you feel are deserving of this award.”

Now I’ve talked about Deena before…

Don’t know her in person… she lives across the country from me.. in California… and normally we talk and reply by comments on blogs…

And she’s near and dear to me… :) A HUGE blessing…. :) And some days I wish I could call her up and ask her to grab a coffee with me… :)

So thank you Deena… :) It’s nice to be thought of this way… :)

And I get to pass it on… :)

Karen at Surviving Motherhood
Lisa at simply His

And as I think of more… I’ll pass those along too… :)

Until next time…

It’s going to be a scorcher….

August 13th, 2007

For me anyway…

they’re used to it…

“They” are the residents of Jackson, Mississippi…

and today? The high is 101…

It’s only going to be 90 here in SW Virginia…

Tomorrow? 102 and Wednesday? 104… ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR DEGREES….

then we dip down to 99 and 97 for the last 2 days of my trip…

The only saving grace is that the building is always set at sub-arctic temperatures, so I can just step out side to warm up when I need to….

I’m off for the week…looking for some grand travel adventures to share with you all… because I know you’ll be waiting with baited breath… (what exactly does that mean, anyway?)

Until next time…

What Are they Looking For?

August 11th, 2007

And it’s time for another installment of “What Are They Looking For?”… where I go through my stats and see how on earth people came to find me…

Oh and there are some good ones today… :)

“Abundant Blessing Church”

Don’t go there, but am abundantly blessed at my church….

“restaurants make me uncomfortable”

Really? Why? I love me some restaurants… anywhere that I don’t have to cook makes me feel real good!

“Troy Gentry daughter”

Um… not me… and I don’t even think he’s old enough to be my dad… he’s a hottie… ::sigh::

“anti cheerleader”

oh! oh! pick me!!! maybe I should form a club….

“caller can’t hear me on cordless phone”

um…. get a new phone!

“eating mouse poop”

WHO SEARCHES FOR THIS??? Don’t do it… even if it does look like Oreo Crumbs… sometimes….

“How do you describe your family?”

very carefully… they truly are a horse of a different color… but I love them bunches… :)

“humorous photos of dorks”

I hope you got your fill while you were here… :)

“our pastor tells the same stories over and over again”

Now, for the record, I have NEVER said this on my blog… I just want to make that clear… BUT… if your pastor is like that you should come to my church… the best church. ever. Because he doesn’t say the same things over and over again… but he does provide a few laughs…

“please don’t fall in love with me”

ok… i won’t…. unless you’ve got something really good to offer….

“random gross facts”

Well I guess there’s something I should post more often about….

“sanity for moms”

pay a babysitter… send them to grandmas… PRAY… that’s all the advice I got…. oh and duct tape works too :)

“school lunch evolution”

near as I can tell… it’s not evolved much….

“she peed in a cup”

and you’re telling me this why? Great! She peed in a cup… give her a cookie… :)

“snap mouse daughter trap”

did you find one?

and last but not least….

“why are women anti-relationship”

well…. perhaps because you don’t offer what she wants… or perhaps because she was hurt badly in the past… or maybe, just maybe, she enjoys her life the way it is now and doesn’t want to screw it up with yet another relationship…. don’t know… you’d have to ask her… :)

Until next time….
