What To Do With Digital Pictures…

August 22nd, 2008

If you’re anything like me, you have TONS of digital pictures but many of them still reside on your harddrive and if you have taken the steps to print them out, they reside in a box on your craft table waiting for you to find the time to do something with them.

I’ve even given up the hope that I will get them all in a scrapbook and have settled for just getting them in picture albums.

But that hasn’t happened yet either.

I’ll be honest, I use several different places to print my pictures but sadly the last time I had pictures printed was January when I returned from Set Apart.  I typically look for new places that have a free member offer with sign up or wait until someone has a sale for 9 cent prints.

But one of my favorite places to get my pictures “developed” is Shutterfly.  They have a very easy upload process, have my prints delivered in no time flat and they are always the best quality.

And right now?  They have some pretty great specials that are going on, so I thought that I would pass them along to you.

New member’s offer: Get 50 free 4×6 prints and an 11×14 Collage Poster when you join Shutterfly.

Shutterfly: 15% Off Orders of $25+. Use coupon code: AF63-AG08. (Expires 9-9-08)

Shutterfly - $.15 4×6 print sale. Valid 8-21-08 to 09-08-08.

Since I’m already a member, I’ll be taking them up on the offer of not only the cheaper prints, but also on the 15% off. My Mom’s birthday is coming up and I’d love to send her something customized with the kids’ picture on it.

So how about you? What’s your favorite online developer? Are you good about getting your pictures actually off your camera and computer and into a scrapbook or photo album?

Until next time…

To Delete Or Not To Delete.. that is the question…

August 20th, 2008

Long before I knew about this group of “mommy” bloggers, I had a personal blog.  I mentioned it in my post earlier about blogging.

You can find it here.

For the past two years, it’s been dormant.  I’ve not posted.  But it’s still there and chronicles almost two years of not only my life, but my children’s accomplishments and pictures as well.

There are very few comments, most from my friend Julie and the BFF but that’s not what’s important.  It’s the memories.

But the domain is up for renewal and I’m not sure what I should do.  I have a few options.

So here are my choices… what would you do?

(a) Renew the domain name and leave the memories as is

(b) Move the blog posts over to Desperately Seeking Sanity

(c) Let the name go, but download the content so that you’ll have it if you ever want it

(d) Let it all go… the domain, the content, etc.. the past is in the past…

(e) other…

I’m curious.  I know that I’ll never do anything with it again, but at the same time, I’m not sure that I should get rid of it.

So, what would you do?

Until next time…

The birth of Desperately Seeking Sanity… uncensored

August 20th, 2008

Eleventy-five years ago, Melanie at Don’t Try This At Home hosted a carnival in which you talked about how you got into blogging. Apparently, I was going to play along and answer questions, and link up and all that other good stuff, but I must’ve gotten side tracked because today, I was cleaning out my drafts folder and happened up on.

I thought about going to find the link but what’s the point.

This isn’t even considered fashionably late.

However, it seems fitting that I answer it now because this post?

It’s number 7-0-0.

I look at that number and think, there’s no way… 700 posts in under two years?  I mean, I’m still 5.5 months away from my 2 year anniversary.

But me talking too much is nothing that I don’t know, and I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now too…

So, here you go… the birth of Desperately Seeking Sanity… uncensored and very, very late.

How did you start blogging?

By accident really.  No seriously.  Three years I heard this term, blog.  I didn’t know people did it on the personal level at the time.  I started one for my business and I’m not sure if people read it.  I know they do now, even though I left blogger just a few months later.  I left my blog up, with the google ads on it and I still make about 5 cents a year there.

When my mother mentioned that I never sent pictures or updates of the kids, I set up a blog for our family… it’s still there too, I think… The Life and Times of the Ellis-Jacobson Family.  When Tim and I broke up, I couldn’t blog there any more and blogged a little on MySpace before finally setting up shop here on February 5, 2007.
Did you intend to be a blog w/a following? If so, how did you go about it?

Are you kidding me?  I didn’t think anyone but my mother and best friend read it, and even then, I don’t think they did it all the time.  It’s one of the reasons that I was so open on my blog because while I knew anyone could read it, I never thought that anyone actually would.

Over time, I’ve come to enjoy the following and I’ve grown in readership since then, but if no one was reading, I would still be posting.  I always keep the reason for this blog in the foreground of my mind… and that’s simply to have an outlet.
What do you hope to achieve or accomplish with your blog? Have you been successful? If not, do you have a plan to achieve those goals?

If I make money, that’s cool.  If I don’t, that’s cool too.  My main goal with this blog is to chronicle the going ons of my life.  I want to be able to look back and see where I’ve grown and how.  I want to be able to remember the funny things that my children did.  I want to see how my writing has improved over time.

I’ve also realized that I can help others through this blog.  Primarily, it’s by making others laugh, but also a way to show them that they are not alone, since I’ve also gotten that from others.

Has the focus of your blog changed since you started blogging? How?

I have started doing some product reviews.  I’m human and I like free stuff.  But I’m not focused on it.  I could sit and write PR companies to review things or give things away, but I choose not to.  The biggest reason is that I don’t have time, but if they offer, I’ll take them up on it.

But the main focus of this blog is me.  Because seriously, I have to have one place where it can be all about me!

What do you know now that you wish you’d known when you started?

I don’t even know how to answer this question.  I wish that I would’ve known about the “life” and “mommy” blogger community long before I found it.  Business blogging is good, but the satisfaction is not near as great.

Do you make money with your blog?

I make enough to take the kids to Taco Bell once a month.  But really, it wouldn’t be enough if Sam actually ate taco bell.

It’s not a focus of mine.  It’s an extra if it happens.

Does your immediate or extended family know about your blog? If so, do they read it? If not, why?

Everyone knows about my blog in my family.  Whether they read it or not, that’s a different story.  I did find out that my ex-mother-in-law reads it (Hi Kathy!) and my ex-husband and his friends know about it.

If they don’t read it, I don’t know why.  I’m incredibly funny.

Actually, I think it’s because no one in my family “gets” blogging.

What two pieces of advice would you give to a new blogger?

Be real.  Don’t try to alter who you are to gain readers.  At the end of the day, you still won’t be happy.  Allow people to get to know the real you because we want to be able to connect with you.  If you’re not sure if you’re achieving this goal, think about how people would react when they meet you in person.  The best compliment for me is when I meet someone off line and they tell me that I’m exactly the same (and better).

Make clear boundaries for what you will and won’t post on your blog.  While no one may know about your little home on the net, they may find it and if it’s not something you’re willing to say to their face, don’t post it on your blog.

Better late than never right?  So, because I’m sure I’m not the only one that missed it, how about you?  Want to answer these questions, too?

If you do, be sure to link up here and I’ll be around to read…and because I’m nice, I’ll find something in the box-o-goodies to give away to two random participants.  We’ll leave it open until next Wednesday… :D

Until next time…

Meeting New People…

August 19th, 2008

I live in a fairly big area however, it’s got a small, hometown feel.  And I only say this because Roanoke does not have your typical six degrees of separation.  It’s more like two.

Because of this, and because of my past that I’m not overly proud of, I don’t always jump out of my seat to meet people locally.  I’m always afraid that people will know someone that knows the old me and judge.

At least, that’s they way that it was.  I’m slowly working on actually talking to people that I don’t know, meeting new people, and trying to broaden my base of acquaintances and friends.  Yes, even dating.

I’ve also had the pleasure of keeping my online life and my offline life separate but at some point in time they’ve collided.  At first, I was a little weirded out by it, but over time, I’ve come to embrace it as it’s allowed me to be held accountable for who I really am.

The good news with this is that I am meeting other bloggers in the area.  For the longest time, it was just me.  Then Shane moved here.  (And can I say that she lives like two streets over, we see each other at school, and at sporting events and try as we might, we’ve never gotten together for lunch?)

Then a few weeks ago, I got an email from Katherine asking to be added to my blog roll.  I don’t add just anyone.  I have to make sure that I’m cooler and skinnier… no I’m just kidding.  But I do have to make sure that it’s a blog that I would stand by.

When I read her blog the first picture I saw looked alot like the view from the top of the star.  And it was becuase Katherine lives right here in Roanoke.

Another life blogger, right here.

I was excited.

And then I got to know more about her and realized that Katherine is a Christian Single Mom, just like me.  That excited me even more.  I love my friends here, but I don’t have anyone locally, really, that gets what it’s like to be me.

After a few emails back and forth, we decided that we would meet up for lunch and so yesterday, after I dropped my heathen children off with a friend for a few hours, I trekked across town to dine with her.

And it was delightful.  And we’re going to do it again.  And our daughters are the same ages, and our sons very close, so we even talked about getting the kids together.

I left yesterday, after watching a lady in the parking lot hit two cars trying to maneuver her boat out of the spot, praying that she would not hit mine, feeling good.  It’s nice to meet new people… even if the guy I dated a few months ago is hot after her now… :D  Small town, people… small town.

The night before, I met the woman who moved in across the street from me.  (Remember that new house they were building that kept blocking my driveway?)

She’s a Christian Single Mom too.  We sat on her front porch for an hour just chatting away and have already devised plans to have neighborhood potlucks.

Can I tell you that I’ve lived on my street for over four years and I know very few people?  I know all of them by face, and we always wave to one another, because that’s what you do in Virginia, you wave to everyone you pass, whether you know them or not.

And now?  I’m planning on helping to organize a neighborhood event.

I’d like to tell you that I’m scared to death about actually leaving my house or embarking on new adventures.  But I’m not. I’m actually pretty excited about the prospect of new friends.

I don’t think you can ever have too many friends.

Until next time…

If only they had cash prizes accompanying them…

August 17th, 2008

That seems like I’m ungrateful.

I’m not.

But it might appear that way because it’s taken me so long to display these.  :D

Always honored am I to receive any kind of award, especially ones that are given to me by real people, real bloggers, because it means that they thought enough of me to come to mind when they need to pass an award on.

Either that or they feel sorry for me.

But I like to see it as the former. :D

Yesterday, I got an email from Leeuna (from My Mind Wandered…) bestowed upon me this:

And when she did that (and telling all her readers that she thinks I’ve found Sanity… HA HA HA HA… I love you Leeuna), I remembered that a long time ago, Melissa gave me an award.

In which she gave it to me because she thinks that I have creativity, design, interesting material, and that I contribute to the blogging community.

Again… ha ha ha…

The design?  Well I have to give Karen credit for that.  She made me pretty.  And the material?  That credit pretty much goes to my kids.  And I’m not sure what I contribute to the blogging community other than that I share my stories so you don’t think that your life is as bad as you think it is…

I’m kidding.

That’s why I watch Montel, Maury and Springer.  :D

But thank you both for the awards.  I appreciate being thought of.

Until next time…

Narcissistic Linky Love

August 15th, 2008

The BFF tells me that my title might not be appropriate, or rather that I didn’t use the word properly.  I knew I should’ve never asked her how to spell it.

But because this post is all about links to others that are about me, I think that  “characteristic of those having an inflated idea of their own importance” linky love is appropriate.

If not, sue me because I used the wrong word.

Love you Becki! (And Donnie said that he really likes that suit.  It’s his brand.)

Because the title for the post is all about how I want to share with you a few of the places that I can be found online.

It’s all about me, ya know?

(The sooner the rest of the world figures that out, the better.) :D

First up… I’ve finally been asked to be a guest poster.  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you… I’ve wanted to be a guest poster, and so I’ve had many of my own and then one day?  Jo-Lynne emailed me and said something to the effect of “I know you’re really busy, but can you guest post for me while I’m on vacation?”

And I was all like, “Well, it will be tough because you know, I have kids and a job, and a business, and a life, and church, but for you, I will see if I can carve some time out of my busy day to help you out.  Because it’s the Christian thing to do.”

I lied.

It was more like, “Oh my gosh!  Of course I’ll guest post for you!  I’ll ignore my children and not cook dinner and miss getting them to football practice for days because I’ll lament over what I should write and then whether or not it’s good enough for your blog.”

Regardless, I sent a post over to her and she said it would be up today and it is.  Like she actually posted it?  I feel like I’ve hit the big time.

Don’t tell Soliloquy, but I was a elated jealous when she had a guest posting gig before I did.

So go visit Jo-Lynne and read my post about internet safety and kids.  Because I’d like to know what you think.

******

And so, then, I signed up for this Great Interview Experiment and it appears really cool.  Backpacking Dad told me about it and so the poor gal who’s supposed to interview me has had a heck of a time with me, both my fault and not my fault (stupid emails that get lost) but it jogged my memory that some poor soul probably thought I forgot about them.

So I went and read through over 700 comments to figure out who I was supposed to interview and I emailed her and asked her if she was still in.  After she yelled at me profusely for not being a good blogger and signing up for something and then forgetting, she reluctantly told me that she would agree to be interviewed gracefully said that she still wanted to do it, I sent her the questions, good ones too, I might add, and she’s posted the interview on her blog.

So please go and read all about I’m a Trouble Maker.  (So am I, but don’t tell anyone, k?)

*****

I wish that I could add a few more links on here where other people wanted my services, but I can’t just yet.  But I can tell you that Chapter 12 is now up in the Chapter Bytes Story that I am participating in.  While I didn’t write this chapter, it’s AH.MAZE.ING. and you should go read it.

Read the whole story.  It just keeps getting better and better.  And at some point in time, I’ll have another chapter up.

Don’t worry, I’ll tell you when.

Because I love to talk about myself.

Until next time…

Customer Service Means You Service Me…

August 13th, 2008

I am a Mac owner.

I love my Mac.  I never wanted a Mac, but I didn’t have a choice.  It’s what the company gave me and so I learned to deal.  And I love my Mac.  I really do.

In fact, there’s not one thing that I don’t love about my Mac.

Oh wait, yes there is.

Why in tarnation would you make the keyboard WHITE????  Don’t you know that children with grubby little fingers sit here and type?  And don’t you know that it’s going to get dirty?  And I realize that they have the little keyboard condoms, but come on.  I’d feel like I was working at Advanced Auto Parts if I were to use one of those.  But then again, their keyboards aren’t stark white either!

I also love Apple Care.  I love to be able to call up and tell them what’s wrong with Mac and they will fix him.  Then I don’t have to go and trouble shoot on the internet and figure out what is wrong.

What I don’t love is when I call Apple Care and the person on the other end of the phone has (a) no personality or (b) not able to speak English.

Now, before I go any further, I am not prejudice against anyone.  I understand why people outsource to people overseas and I think that there are valid reasons for doing so.  Saving money is important when running a business.  But if you’re going to do that, please, for the Love of God, make sure the people who answer the phone can speak English.

It really has nothing to do with those that are foreign either.  I don’t care who you are, if you hire someone to work with people, then they must be able to communicate.  I know people who live in Brooklyn and Alabama that should not be allowed to handle customer service calls because I can’t understand them.

But what I really don’t like is when someone yells at me (the customer, remember?) because I’ve had to ask him 5 times to repeat himself because I couldn’t understand him.

And when I follow the instructions that I was given and I’m asked to call back, I don’t like getting someone with no personality, although he spoke with an accent that I could understand.

The reality of it is this.  There are people who are suited to work with other people and then there are those that aren’t.  I think it lies with the company to hire people who are people people, but I also think some of the responsibility lies on the person applying for the job.

If you don’t like people, don’t apply for a job in which you have to work with people.  It’s not fair to your company, it’s not fair to the customers and it’s not fair to you.  If you don’t like people, you’re going to be misreable.

Make sesne?

And above all else, whether you’re a people person or not, whether your English is good or not, your job is to help me.  I am the customer.  I am the one that’s paying your salary.

Be nice to me.

Because if you’re not?

I’m going to blog about it.

Until next time…

Would you like to know who won?

August 5th, 2008

Sorry for the delay in getting the winner posted… we went out of town this weekend to see my grandfather and I actually didn’t get online at all.

Can you believe it?

Shocker, I know.

But The Sarcastic Mom is the winner.  I’ve emailed her and will get that ring ordered and in the mail.

If you have a business or know of someone who does who does, I’d love to be able to offer more giveaways from mom/blogger businesses.  (And if you want to be gracious and offer something for a giveaway here on Desperately Seeking Sanity, please let me know.  I’d be more than willing to help you get some exposure!)

Now, one more thing about Sarcatic Mom.  She couldn’t make it to BlogHer.

But her boobs went.

And if you go here, and scroll down, you might recognize a familiar face.

Congrats!

Until next time…

Just a little uniformity… it’s all I ask for…

August 1st, 2008

Web 2.0 has taken off and we are constantly inundated with new services and new products to try, to help us with being able to better network on the internet.

My problem with all the different services is that everyone uses something different and it started a long time ago when instant messaging programs came out.  We’ve gotten to the point where I now have to have FIVE different chat programs open so that I can keep track of my friends and most of the time, all of the ones that I really want to also have all FIVE programs.  But we can’t just pick one.  No.

That would leave someone else out.

I realize that there are programs like Trillian but they don’t like the Mac.  And I realize that Meebo is out there.  But I want a program that RUNS on my computer and not in a browser window.

::sigh::

Then came Firefox and I liked that better than Internet Explorer.  Thunderbird replaced my Outlook.  The Mac came along and while I kept Firefox, I now use the Mac Mail App.

I’ve just gotten used to Twitter and now there is Plurk and Kwippy.  I have accounts at all of them but Twitter is what I use most because that’s what I remember to sign into.

But I panic because I have other friends that have moved to other services and how on earth will I keep up with them?

Now all the hubbub is out about Flock.  Yet another program that I have to figure out how to use to see if it really is the next best thing since sliced bread as everyone is claiming and frankly?

I don’t have time.

But I’ll do it anyway.

Just like I downloaded Windows Live Writer today to post from to see what it could do because I liked the idea of being able to compose blog posts while offline and not have to copy and paste it into the window later… OR be almost done with a blog post and losing it all because I’m connected to the internet.

I could probably be a big baby and just say if you want to send me a calendar invite, do so to my Google calendar.

If you want to chat with me, you can reach me on Yahoo Messenger.

I’m twittering and nothing else.

But I won’t.  I’m too afraid that I’ll miss something or someone.

But boy… don’t you wish we could all get on the same page?

I did actually meet people at BlogHer…

July 28th, 2008

I realize my past BlogHer posts were pretty much all about me… but I really did meet other bloggers, new bloggers and bloggers that I love while I was there…

And I have a few pictures.

Not many, but a few…

So…

Here we go….

Jenny Lauck from Three Kid Circus and BlogHer Ads… she recognized me because I might have violated some terms of service with my BlogHer Ads… not on purpose, mind you, but everytime she emails me, she’s so nice about it…

Jenifer from Not Calm (Dot Com)… she takes really pretty pictures… :D  And she’s funny and an awesome writer, so you should go see her.

Jenny from All Eyes on Jenny is a dork.  She claims that she invented it, but I didn’t know this about her when I met her… it’s only since I’ve been back and been reading her blog.  So, being a dork makes me want to be her friend.

Lori from Spinning Yellow is a doll.  She was one of the first people that I met at the People’s Party and I remember her because we talked for a little while on what Spinning meant… nevermind that she has a picture of a mother (presumably her) in a yellow dress and a child (presuabmly hers) also in yellow, spinning them around.  I never claimed to have common sense.

Katy from My LA Blog and Constant Chatter is someone that I met the first night at the Newbie party and then kept running into her for the rest of the weekend.  I like her alot.  She’s from LA.  For whatever reason, this was very cool to me and I’ve yet to check out Constant Chatter, but I will, because, well, we all know that I am constantly chattering… so I think it will fit me well.

Nicole from Apron Strings Aflutter was just as sweet as sweet can be and we had dinner at Lori’s Diner Saturday night along with some other bloggers… It was one of the highlights of my trip…

Stacy is the Laptop Television Mom and she talks alot about TV.  And I’m in TV so it could be a fit… :D

Staci was new to blogging and blogs about Practical Spirituality.  I had the pleasure of speaking with her at length Friday night at Ruby Skye when we were at the bar trying to determine what we were going to have to drink.  Then I lost her and never met up with her again.

Alex from Formula Fed and Flexible Parenting actually approached me after the Privacy session when I talked about MySpace and teaching our children the responsibilities of being online, especially when we, as parents are so involved with the internet.  I enjoyed talking to her then and I enjoy her blog alot.

I have decided that I want a tee from Couture Moms.  Dana’s got a great shop and perhaps I’ll use them for my next giveaway…

If you’re traveling to Italy anytime soon (Don’t I wish!) then you’ll need to go over and see Jessica at ItalyLogue.  She’s got the inside scoop on Italy, how to get around, what to do and what not to do.  (How awesome would it be to have THIS job?)

Funny thing about Stephanie Klein…she’s the author of Moose a Memoir of Fat Camp.  I remember speaking to her.  I remember her giving me her card.  I remember thinking that I liked the name of her book.  I also remember the two people who spoke at the closing Keynote address on Saturday.  However, I did not put two and two together until I got home.  Because I’m smart like that.

I met Amanda from GoodyBlog and bless her heart.  She was in control of the drink tickets at the People’s Party.  But that automatically makes her the most popular girl at the party.

And then there was Papa.  Who, hands down, gets my vote for most creative business cards.  They were larger and they were diamond and not square.  And he’s dancing on them and they say “I met Papa!”  And he was so awesome to talk to.  For the record, Papa’s real name is Brian, but he will forever be known to me now as Papa.  And he’s funny.  So go read him.

Genie from In a Bottle (how cute is that) not only had a pretty cool business card layout, but she also gave out keychain bottle openers.  And I collect keychains.  All of this is nice, but what really makes me remember her is that she has a MacBook Air.  I would’ve liked to have beaten her up and steal her MacBook Air, but she was too nice.  So I sat behind her the entire session and daydreamed about what it would be like if I had my own MacBook Air.  In my dreams it was nice.

Loralee from Loralee’s Looney Tunes is hysterical and she’s got the most gorgeous eyes.  And she’s a good mic wrangler.  Oh and she’s funny.  The back of her business cards stated “in an ideal world, this space wuld contain a perfectly written tidbit designed to lure readers to my blog with its pithiness and humor. (Reality sucks a duck, yo,)”  And it drew me to her blog.  She’s funny.  I think I already mentioned that.

I’ve talked about Erin from The Vintage Pearl.  Cutest baby on her blog… seriously.. and her Jewelry is awesome too!  If you’ve not entered the giveaway here for the pearl ring, then do so now.

Elaine is the Wannabe Hippie.  She’s adorable… so are her kids… and her house is awesome.  (I only know this because I got lost looking at all of her blog one day when I got home and saw a picture of it.) And she knows how to craft her words.

Jennifer from The Smart Mama is very green.  And we had some interesting talks about living green and the like while at BlogHer.  In San Francisco you hear about “living green” everywhere.  BlogHer went green.  But here in the southeast?  There’s not alot of talk about it.  I was very much educated about “being green” while I was there and alot of it from Jennifer.  And she’s not in your face about it.  At least she wasn’t to me, so therefore I listened to her.  I’ll have you know, our last 5 loads of laundry have been washed with Soap Nuts (which I picked up there) and it was nice to know I was doing something good for the environment.

Oh and then there was Tanis, the Redneck Mommy.  (Did I mention that her boobs are not as small as I expected them to be?  And I only say that because she keeps talking about how they are small.  But whatever.)  She bestowed the title of Honorary Canadian on me.  So now I walk around, ending every sentance with the word “eh”.    I had an enjoyable time with her… and rolled when I saw someone’s award post that had her and Backpacking Dad as the cutest couple that wasn’t really a couple.  And there’s a picture or two on her camera that need to make their way over here… perhaps if I emailed and actually followed up with the people that I met, it would happen.  I’m working on it.

Amy from Mums The Wurd was awesome and funny and I’ve talked to her in the past online and then as we were twittering back and forth in the Mommyblogging being a Radical Act session, I finally stalked her out.  Then we sat together at the keynote session on Saturday.  She’s the type of girl that if we were in school and sat together we would be separated before too long.  Both of us had little side comments going the whole time and they usually ended with stiffled laughter so as to not disrupt the rest of the group who were either listening or pulling celery out of their purse.

Jean from Stimeyland gave us luggage tags.  Now, when giving swag, I appreciated the luggage tag for no other reason that I could put it ON my luggage and not IN my luggage… because there was no room for anything else in that suitcase that was 1 lb under the limit they would let me on the plane with it.  And I like her blog as I’ve been reading it since I got back.  I wish that I would’ve gotten to talk to her more while I was there.

Apparently Susan (aka “WhyMommy”) from Toddler Planet is a celebrity.  I didn’t know this until I came home and I started seeing all these people blogging about her.  I stared at her through the entire presentation thinking that I knew her, but not from blogging.  I never did figure it out although after talking to her, we realized that we’ve been a lot of the same places, just not at the same time.  And I admire her.  Because her card is for Mothers With Cancer.  She’s a fighter.  Go see her.

Lucretia is the Geek Mommy and we spent most of Saturday morning hopping the Exhibit hall together and getting to know one another.  Geeks are cool and I’m a good blogger, because I got the good blogger card.

Uppercase Woman (aka Cecily) is cool for many many reasons.  (1) she gave me the username and password to get the internet in the session.  (2) She’s from Philly. (3) She’s HYSTERICAL (4) she gave out tattoos with her blog on them.  Definately creative.  I’ve been reading her blog since I’ve been back and I love it, love her, foul mouth and all.  She’s definately really good at expressing herself.

Skye has lots of blogs.  Overachiever.  However, what caught my eye about her was her dating misfires blog.  And we all know how I’ve been in the throwes of online dating in the past and how much I love the blog I Can’t Believe He’s Still Single.  However, in addition to her bad personal ads blog, she also blogs at Flooded Lizard Kingdom, All Access Blogging, Herione Content, and Crafting a Green World.  I’m sure there’s something for you among her many homes on the net.

Mary from Owlhaven was another blogger that joined us for dinner Saturday night.  Or did I join them.  I think I joined them.  She’s amazing.  Lots of kids… adopted and she’s as nice as nice can be.  And she’s another blogger that’s making the leap to self-hosted wordpress from wordpress.com.  She’s got someone working on it now and I know she’s going to love it!

And of course, I got to meet Melanie (aka Chilihead) from Blogging Basics 101, Bloggy Giveaways, Don’t Try This at Home and her newest venture Behind the Blog with Karen from Simply A Musing.

Scribbit is tall.  That is not a bad thing and she’s who you want to walk into a crowded Macy’s with because if you ever get separated or distracted and wander off from the rest of your group all you have to do is look for Michelle.  I told her that too, in a non-offensive way.  In addition to being tall, she’s got a lot of awesome stuff on her blog.  But most of you probably already know that because you’ve been reading her forever.  I?  Have not.  But I will now.

Clair from Clairnation is such a wordsmith.  I did not get to talk with her that much at BlogHer but I’ve been reading her blog since I’ve been back and it’s amazing to just read what she has to say… even if it isn’t my typical style of blog.  (Do I even have a style?  I don’t think so.)  But she’s funny, and insightful, and real.  And I like real.

I met Christine from Home Team Wins and she was part of the dinner party.  LOVED her.  Like I want to be her Bloggy BFF.  She was a hoot and I liked her alot.  And she doesn’t look as old as she is.  I won’t tell you how old she is.  But she looks AMAZING.  I’m so glad that she was sitting at my end of the table as I really got to know her a little more and her blog, obviously, now has a home in my “must read” folder in Google Reader.

100_4040.JPGIt took me two days to meet up with Stephanie from Adventures in Babywearing and Arianne from To Think is To Create.  But I finally did and they even let me sit with them at th closing key note.  There are so many things that I remember about it, but seriously, watching Stephanie pull celery out of her purse was one of them and Arianne tweeting “Someone near me has gas.  Just sayin’” and of course, several of us responded with “wasn’t me”…  I’ve worked with both Stephanie and Arianne while working on the 5 Minutes for Mom Sister Sites and so I did really want to meet them before I left.  And they were awesome.  But I already knew that.  And they let me sit with them.  So that made me like them more.

100_4042.JPGAnd speaking of 5 Minutes for Mom, I finally got to meet Susan and Janice and have dinner with them.  While I’ve talked with Susan at length on the phone, it was great to meet her in person.  Both of the gals are so full of energy and were very nice, even though Susan is convinced that she bothered me alot while working on the sister sites.  She didn’t.  It was great to be a part of it.  I also got to meet their babies, Julia, and the nanny and if you were wondering what the twins are like in action?  Even approaching 35, both of them still act like sisters… from blaming things on one another to sticking up for one another and it was so much fun to see.

Oh there were a few more bloggers that I met… like Shannon from Rocks in My Dryer.  I’ve heard that she was just a sweetheart and she was.  I liked her and she’s actually the one that invited me to dinner with the gang.  For that, I am forever grateful because I know that I wouldn’t of had fun at that Macy’s party and I was only in there for 10 minutes.  It was too much, too many people, and loud.  By that point in time I had had my fair share of people.  And she wasn’t shy about ordering that big sundae at the end of the meal… I wish that our end of the table would’ve had the brains to do that as well, but we didn’t.

Of course, Susan wasn’t shy about sneaking a bite either…..

Now… there’s who I met.  I think I encompassed everyone that I had a card for.  Although, I can tell you everytime I turn around I’m pulling another card out of somewhere…

It was great meeting all the bloggers… :D

Until next time…
